Zermatt, Switzerland - Walking at Gornergrat Summit 4K
The top of the Gornergrat ridge, above Zermatt, with a thunderstorm visible in the distance and slowly closing on the summit. This is a walk at altitude in every sense: 360-degree views of the Matterhorn and the Gorner Glacier, the Pennine Alps ranged out in all directions, the Kulmhotel and its observatory holding the high ground. The Gornergrat Railway brings you up; the ridge does the rest. Thirty minutes, filmed in 4K with binaural audio, and the storm gives the whole recording a clock — the views are enormous, but the weather is coming, and everything on the ridge seems to know it. There's a chapel up here, named for Bernard of Aosta, which feels correct for a place this exposed. Watch it for the glacier. Or let the summit ambience run in the background while you work. Either way the storm arrives on its own schedule.
