Zermatt, Switzerland 4K - Gornergrat Railway Train Ride - Matterhorn
Not a walk this time — a train. The Gornergrat Railway runs from the summit observatory down to the village of Zermatt, and this recording rides the whole descent on a clear summer day, the kind made for viewing the Matterhorn. The Gornergrat is the second-highest railway in Europe, after the Jungfrau, and the line drops station by station — Rotenboden, Riffelberg, Riffelalp, Findelbach — each stop one step further out of the high country, until the rails end among the rooftops of Zermatt. The camera holds 4K HDR from observatory to village. If the walks on this channel are about weather at street level, this one is about scale instead: the Alps out one window, the valley climbing up to meet the train, and the village waiting at the bottom the whole way down.
Best with headphones — the audio is true binaural. Watch on YouTube (recommended on TV).
The Quiet List
A note when a new walk goes up. Four or five a year, usually autumn and winter. Nothing else.
