A forest pond in winter, in rain, on a morning walk I never named. Some walks are for the place; this one is for the sound. Rain on the pond, rain in the trees, and the woods' own quiet underneath — binaural, so the drops land on either side of you the way they landed around the microphones. There is no landmark here to look up afterward, nothing to pin on a map. Just a pond somewhere in the New England woods, holding a morning of winter rain. Nothing was added afterward; what the pond gave is what the recording keeps, start to finish. People put walks like this on to study, to fall asleep, or to sit awhile with a window that isn't theirs. That last one is the honest use. The woods were wet, and it kept raining, and I kept walking.
