A rainstorm rolled in on a sunny summer afternoon, and this walk went out into it — down from a neighborhood in New England to the open field of a cranberry bog. Heavy rain the whole way, drumming on the umbrella, with the wide sky of the bogs for a ceiling. There was reason to hope for a rainbow after weather like that — sun before, rain after — but it never showed. That absence stays in the recording somewhere, the way a walk holds whatever you spent it watching for. The audio here is binaural and rewards headphones: the rain sits close overhead while the bog holds everything else at field-length. For study or sleep it works the way heavy rain works anywhere; as a walk, it is among the quieter propositions here — a neighborhood, a bog, a storm, and a rainbow that didn't come.
