Morning rain, and a walk out to river falls in New England. No town is named, and none is needed — a forest, a river, weather. What this recording holds is the layering: rain in the canopy, rain reaching the ground a beat later, and under both of them the river, which was running before the rain started and will keep running after it stops. This one was recorded on location, binaurally, with nothing added in the edit. It is a walk toward water — the falls wait at the far end of it, and the path takes its time getting there. People sleep to rain and study to rivers; this recording carries both at once, old company for a working mind. It also works to simply sit with it: a wet morning, a forest path, and beneath everything a river that has somewhere to be.
