4K Walk in the Rain | Cambridge, MA | ASMR Walking
Rain at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, in autumn. It is the oldest garden cemetery in the United States — a National Historic Landmark of a hundred and seventy acres — and this walk covers only a small corner of it, which feels right; the place was made for wandering, not for finishing. Garden cemetery is an honest term. The paths curve, the plantings crowd close, and the stones sit among them like they were invited. Autumn rain suits it better than any other weather could: leaves down on the lanes, everything darkened a shade, the rain itself recorded binaurally so it falls all around you rather than at you. Nobody hurries here, by definition. There is a lot to say about a place like this and the walk says none of it — it just goes slowly in, and lets the rain and the ground do the remembering. For sleep, for study, for a gray afternoon of your own.
Best with headphones — the audio is true binaural. Watch on YouTube (recommended on TV).
The Quiet List
A note when a new walk goes up. Four or five a year, usually autumn and winter. Nothing else.
