Across the road, the Boston Garden and its festive lights, and the walk ends on the Commonwealth Avenue Mall, its sidewalk trees wrapped in white lights down the whole promenade. Late autumn, night, the last of the rain gone. The microphones were binaural and out in the weather; the city sounds different after a storm, and this walk keeps that intact. An hour and seven minutes of downtown Boston with nowhere in particular to be. It works as well for sleep as it does for a long stretch of desk work.
