Boston, Massachusetts at 2AM - Rainy Night Walk 4K - Zakim Bridge - Binaural

Spring · Rain · 37 min · March 2022

Boston at two in the morning, under the Zakim Bridge, in rain. The fog was doing the thing it does to the skyline — turning it into a glow across the Charles River rather than a set of buildings. At that hour the city is technically still there but has stopped insisting on it. The route holds to the underside of the bridge, where the cables climb away into the wet dark and the rain arrives with nothing to interrupt it. In the binaural recording the drops land around you in their actual positions, and the city's late-night ambience keeps its true distance. Nobody else out. The original notes say we have the whole place to ourselves, which at 2 a.m. under a highway bridge is either a warning or a gift, depending on what you came for. This one is for the second kind of person.

Best with headphones — the audio is true binaural. Watch on YouTube (recommended on TV).
