A rainy night in Boston: Back Bay, Copley Square, and finally the Public Garden. Rain after dark does something to this city that dry weather won't — every light doubles itself on the pavement, and streets you know become a second, glassier version of themselves. Recorded with binaural microphones for a full three-dimensional sound: traffic to one side, rain overhead, footsteps underneath. Near the end, the route slips through an alleyway that opens straight into the Garden — the kind of passage you walk past a hundred times before you finally take it. I've been meaning to go back and film the long alleyways of Back Bay properly; this walk is the reason why. Filmed in high dynamic range at a slower, film-like frame rate, on location. For study, for sleep, or for the hour when you want the city without the day attached.
